Job description
Our client is looking for an experienced Fleet Manager / Truck Dispatcher who knows how to keep trucks moving, drivers productive, customers informed, and a fleet profitable. This is a hands-on operations role for someone who thinks ahead, takes ownership, and understands the business behind every dispatch decision.
Our client is a growing, agile, technology-focused transportation company operating more than 100 trucks and 250 trailers across the U.S. We move fast, stay sharp, maintain high standards, and believe work can be both challenging and fun.
Our greatest competitive advantage is our team. How we work together, support one another, and take care of each other is a big part of what makes our client’s company different. Our strength comes from our relationships - with our teammates, drivers, customers, and partners - and from the way we show up for each other every day.
Our values of trust, respect, partnership, ownership, diversity, and safety guide how we operate and how we treat people. We communicate openly, hold ourselves accountable, step in when someone needs help, and celebrate wins together. Individual performance matters, and our greatest success comes from working and winning together as one team.
You'll work alongside an experienced operations team where information is shared, performance is measured, and strong results are recognized. If you are competitive, relationship-driven, commercially minded, and take pride in seeing your trucks and drivers succeed, we'd like to hear from you.
You will manage a group of drivers and trucks while building the relationships necessary to produce consistent results.
What You'll Be Responsible For
Plan and dispatch assigned trucks throughout our operating network.
Build daily and weekly plans that maximize truck utilization, revenue, and profitability.
Find and secure freight through load boards, brokers, customers, and other available resources.
Negotiate rates and make sound decisions based on RPM, deadhead, market position, driver hours, and the next available freight opportunity.
Pre-plan trucks whenever possible rather than waiting until a driver is empty.
Maintain strong relationships and consistent communication with assigned drivers.
Provide clear pickup, delivery, appointment, routing, and load information.
Monitor trucks and shipments throughout the day and address potential problems before they become service failures.
Communicate proactively with brokers and customers regarding status, delays, changes, and other important information.
Manage driver schedules, home-time requests, available hours, and day-to-day operational challenges.
Develop productive relationships with brokers, customers, and transportation partners.
Understand freight markets, including strong and weak lanes, backhaul opportunities, seasonal changes, and changing rate conditions.
Keep load and operational information accurate and current within company systems.
Work with Operations, Safety, Maintenance, and other departments to resolve issues quickly.
Take responsibility for the overall service, utilization, revenue, RPM, and profitability of your assigned fleet.
Working conditions
Work schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM EST (with 30 minutes for lunch)
Competitive Salary in USD + commission
Remote mode of work
10+ business days of paid time off
Team building and corporate events

A supportive team
Requirements
Required Qualifications
At least 1 year of hands-on U.S. trucking dispatch experience.
Experience managing multiple trucks and drivers simultaneously.
Experience actively finding, negotiating, and booking freight.
Familiarity with DAT, Truckstop, or comparable load-board platforms.
Strong understanding of U.S. geography and freight lanes, particularly the Midwest and Southeast.
Understanding of RPM, deadhead, utilization, driver hours, and the financial impact of dispatch decisions.
Strong rate-negotiation and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal English communication.
Ability to communicate professionally with drivers, customers, brokers, and coworkers.
Ability to remain calm, organized, and decisive when plans change.
A high level of personal accountability and ownership.
How We Measure Success
At Zelh, success starts with relationships. The way we treat our teammates, drivers, customers, and partners matters. We take care of each other, communicate openly, and understand that our strongest results come when we work together.
Our values guide how we operate. We expect our team to demonstrate trust, respect, partnership, ownership, diversity, and safety through their actions and decisions every day. Successful Fleet Managers build strong relationships with their drivers. They learn how each driver operates, communicate expectations clearly, solve problems, provide support when it is needed, and build enough trust to have honest and sometimes difficult conversations.
