Job description

Company Overview

At Motorola Solutions, we believe that everything starts with our people. We’re a global close-knit community, united by the relentless pursuit to help keep people safer everywhere. We build and connect technologies to help protect people, property and places. Our solutions foster the collaboration that’s critical for safer communities, safer schools, safer hospitals, safer businesses, and ultimately, safer nations. Connect with a career that matters, and help us build a safer future.

Department Overview

The Motorola Solutions International Mobile Applications team creates mission-critical software solutions for emergency first responders across public safety agencies worldwide. Used by hundreds of thousands of police officers, firefighters, and paramedics every day, our applications directly enhance emergency service responses when every second counts.

This role focuses on our software suite supporting UK Fire agencies. You will join a high-performing, distributed engineering squad of ~7 developers responsible for building sophisticated client, server, web, and database solutions.

Job Description

This is a fully remote role based anywhere in the United Kingdom. While you will work from home daily, you will be fully integrated into our collaborative engineering culture with optional access to our Centre of Excellence in Glasgow for occasional team gatherings.

What You’ll Do

  • Design, build, and maintain high-performing, fault-tolerant full-stack software applications for emergency services.

  • Write scalable, maintainable code using general-purpose languages such as C# or Java, alongside modern web frameworks.

  • Collaborate asynchronously and synchronously with cross-functional Agile team members (Product, QA, Architecture).

  • Drive system architecture improvements to guarantee zero-downtime reliability for emergency responders.

Basic Requirements

  • Education: Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Experience: 5+ years of commercial software engineering experience across the full stack (front-end and back-end).

  • Technical Mastery: Deep understanding of object-oriented programming (Java or C#) and architectural design patterns for scalable applications.

  • Security Vetting: Must be eligible for Non-Police-Personnel-Vetting Level 3 (NPPV3) clearance (requires a minimum of 3 years continuous UK residency).

Desirable & Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience developing scalable server/gateway applications and client-server communication models.

  • Experience with modern web technologies (HTML5, CSS3, React).

  • Exposure to mobile (Android/iOS using Kotlin, Swift, or React Native) or Windows UI frameworks (WPF, WinUI).

  • Proven experience working in remote Agile (Scrum) engineering teams.

What We Offer

  • Unique UK Benefit: Two weeks additional pay per year (Holiday Bonus scheme).

  • Work-Life Flexibility: 100% remote working option with dedicated home-office support.

  • Competitive Package: Market-leading base salary, performance bonus, and stock purchase plan (ESPP).

  • Time Off & Pension: 25 days annual leave + bank holidays, alongside an attractive matched pension scheme.

  • Comprehensive Care: Enhanced parental leave, Life Assurance, and 24/7 Employee Assistance Program.
