Job description

Locations: Anywhere

TL;DR: Join a career accelerator for developers, built by developers. Alumni have gone on to Amazon, Meta, Google — or founded their own startups.

💼 About the Role

As a JavaScript Engineer, you’ll help scale the engineering teams of our global clients and ship impactful features. You’ll work on everything from modern web apps to API integrations, contributing to projects for YC startups all the way up to unicorns.

GitStart is a community of developers that turns tickets into PRs — fast, high-quality, and at scale.

⭐ Reasons to Join

🌱 Grow your skills – Write and review code from day one, get daily peer and senior engineer feedback, and level up with technical, PM, and communication growth tracks.

🌍 World-class codebases – Condense years of learning into months by working on some of the most advanced and technical JavaScript projects in the world.

🤖 Become AI-native – Get early access to cutting-edge AI dev tools, from GPT-4 to autonomous agents that create tickets based on your PR comments.

👩‍💻 Fully remote + async – Work when, where, and how you want. No micromanagement.

🚀 Gain OSS experience – Build your open-source profile and contribute to important JavaScript and Node.js repositories.

🤝 Build lasting connections – Collaborate with people from 15+ countries through game nights, hackathons, and local meetups.

🎯 Your Technical Skills

  • Mastery in JavaScript (Node.js + modern frameworks like React, Next.js, or Vue.js)

  • Solid grasp of async programming (Promises, async/await, event loop, queues)

  • Strong knowledge of API design (REST, GraphQL, WebSockets) and integration

  • Skilled in data structures and modeling for web-scale applications

  • Deep understanding of performance optimization (caching, load balancing, profiling)

  • Experience with concurrency in JS (worker threads, clustering, async queues)

  • Ability to debug across layers (frontend, backend, database, network)

  • Strong architectural thinking (system design, scalable modular codebases)

Product-wise

  • Ability to quickly master new domains and stacks

  • Excellent at writing and maintaining technical documentation

  • Attention to detail for edge cases and failure scenarios

😊 You’re a Fit If…

  • You’re hungry to learn and grow

  • You’ve shown extreme ownership in past work

  • You can jump into large unknowns and chip away at problems

  • You learn by building, not just reading

  • You iterate fast and love feedback loops

  • You care deeply about code quality and craftsmanship

🔄 What to Expect

If you pass the application stage

Technical Assessment → Technical Interview → Hackweek (2–5 issues on a public OSS JS codebase) → Full-time offer
