ABOUT Resources Legacy Fund (RLF)
Resources Legacy Fund builds the architecture behind lasting environmental progress. From climate resilience to land and water conservation to community well-being, we help visionary ideas take shape—offering the steady support and strategic know-how to turn complex challenges into collective victories.
We deliver transformative outcomes for our planet and its people through trusted partnerships and creative campaigns. Rooted in California and expanding across Western North America and beyond, we have a 25-year track record of supporting initiatives at every scale. We also host fiscally sponsored projects that reach across the globe, reinforcing the efforts of change makers worldwide.
Addressing three interconnected crises — climate change, biodiversity loss, and environmental injustice — requires creativity, collaboration, and fast reflexes. With deep operational expertise and the confidence of donors and partners, we enable lasting solutions to rise.
POSITION SUMMARY
RLF’s Hawai‘i program supports programs, policy change, and increased public funding outcomes for clean energy, climate resilience, nearshore marine conservation, and reforestation across Hawai‘i. Our program engages in coalition-building, policy development, advocacy, capacity-building, and grantmaking. We work at a statewide scale and partner with state and county agencies, nonprofit conservation and community organizations, and landowners, and we house coalitions that work collaboratively to advance conservation, climate, and community priorities.
We seek a highly organized, collaborative, and proactive Program Manager to provide programmatic support across RLF’s Hawai‘i initiatives. Program Manager duties span a range of activities and include supporting coalitions and partnerships, facilitating meetings, planning events, managing projects and timelines, contributing to strategy development, creating materials, and overseeing grants and contracts.
This position is full-time, exempt, and reports to the Hawai’i Director. The position is based in Hawai‘i and requires periodic travel throughout the state, ranging from occasional to several trips per month depending on business needs, as well as limited domestic travel as needed to fulfill job duties.
DUTIES INCLUDE:
Program Administration
• Develop and maintain mutually supportive working relationships with staff, coalition partners, and contractors to advance RLF’s and the Hawaiʻi Program’s mission, vision, and aligned values.
• Oversee and improve program management for the Hawai‘i team. This includes creating and implementing systems to ensure the team meets milestones and deadlines on significant projects, budget management support, and management of tracking and reporting toward program progress.
• Organize and, where appropriate, facilitate virtual meetings (internal or external) or in-person convenings. Work with staff and partners to research, prepare, and assemble materials for meetings. Ensure meetings have clear agendas, timelines, and outcomes and circulate necessary materials in advance of meetings.
• Convene staff and consultants to track progress and address program issues. Maintain regular communication with consultants and contractors to monitor timelines, identify challenges, and facilitate follow-through on agreed-upon activities.
• Assist in creating materials for presentations (including reports, maps, tables, graphs, database reports, and PowerPoint presentations) to the Board, partners, and funders.
• Coordinate with staff to develop internal and external written program materials (e.g., one-pagers, presentations, program summaries, or reports, etc.).
• Support program staff with strategic planning and program development and implementation.
• Maintain documentation systems, including shared files, contact lists, project trackers, and other program records.
Program Management
• Help manage a portfolio of contracts and grants, including coordinating with contractors and grantees to track timelines, deliverables, and reporting requirements, and coordinate with other staff in managing program budgets.
• Support, participate in, and/or staff (consultation, facilitation, convening, etc.) policy coalitions and other collaborative efforts in climate policy, ‘āina stewardship, and public funding.
• Assist in refining strategies, designing contracts and grants, conducting due diligence, and working with potential grantees and contractors to develop proposals and scopes of work.
• Synthesize reports and deliverables and work with staff to develop grant proposals and reports for funders that document project and program activities, progress, outcomes, and impacts achieved.
• Review and provide feedback on funder and grantee proposals managed by colleagues.
• Represent RLF’s Hawai‘i team at in-person convenings as needed to fulfill duties.
• Perform policy research and analysis and prepare and review documents as requested.
• Remain current on emerging issues and trends in climate and conservation.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
